RSS Date Format Calculator

RSS Date Format Calculator

One of the most annoying parts of hand-writing your own RSS feed is that pesky RFC 822 date format that you need for pubDate tags. I always end up copying from a past item, and then just changing the values. I guess this format is supposed to be human-readable, but for some reason I always have difficulty writing it, especially since I'll sometimes drop commas or end up accidentally using a different date format instead.

I'm surprised even web search engines don't have an automatic "what is the current RFC 822 date" function (besides the silly AI tools which I don't trust to write out such a specific format).

So I thought what the heck, why not just make a little tool that can generate proper date formats for my hand-written RSS feeds and never have to worry about this again.

The Calculator

Simply enter the date you want in YYYY-MM-DD format (with time being optional) and it'll spit out a proper RFC 822 date in your local timezone. Yippee! Or just click the "Set To Current Date" button if you just want the current time.
